Hailing from Houston, Taylor Walker is a documentary and animation filmmaker who explores Black American history and culture across multiple generations. Her most recent animated film, The Candy Lady, had a successful Kickstarter which garnered the attention of Academy Award-winning directors and over 130 people. The Candy Lady was later pitched at DOK Leipzig. The film has screened at numerous film festivals including Academy Award-qualifying festival, RiverRun International Film Festival and Canadian Screen Award-qualifying festival, WorldFest-Houston Film Festival. Her previous film, And Don’t Forget I Love You, screened at Indie Memphis Film Festival, Oxford Film Festival, and Made in Arkansas Film Festival. This film received Programmer’s Selection, the highest honor recognized by the Huntington Beach Mayor at the Huntington Beach Cultural Cinema Showcase.
Taylor was previously a Black n’ Animated x Netflix Foundations Program and BWA Bootcamp participant. She has also worked as an Assistant Editor on docu-series, Cold Case Files and 72 Seconds in Rittenhouse Square, documentary feature film, Divisible, and at LinkedIn News. She has also worked as a Social Media Video Editor for Rooster Teeth’s Death Battle, MTV’s True Life, LeanIn, Exposure Labs’ Climate Story Lab, and more. Taylor’s work has been featured in Reckon News, MLive, and Syracuse.com.
